About
Amanda Marie Gipson
When I was earning my MFA (Wilkes, ’23), we were often told that writers need community. We were warned that writing could be isolating, something I found to be true when compounded with rural life. Yet, many of the solutions offered to writers—workshops, seminars, support groups, editors—exist mostly in suburban and urban spaces. Even when they are inclusive of rural writers, such solutions often fail to understand their needs and perspectives.
Through innovative workshops and individualized editorial guidance, I support community-building for rural writers. Although I work with writers regardless of their location or profession, my services are rural-focused and agriculturally based. I understand the pressures and pleasures of production agriculture and celebrate the nuances of our reality as a frame for creative growth.
As an agricultural educator (Colorado State M.Agr, ’15), I not only am able to help writers express realities of production agriculture on the page, I am skilled at helping my clients to leverage their inputs to make their agricultural goals achievable through writing. I am passionate about supporting my clients in building personally relevant writing habits and practices that lean into their rurality.
When not working or agvocating, I enjoy baking and thrift shopping, the varied results of which you can often see on my blog.
